Audit and Risk
We have successfully provided services to schools beyond our traditional Internal Audit role for a number of years and look forward to providing schools with services into the future.
It is essential that schools have a good understanding of the issues and changing environment in which they operate and that they have effective systems of control, risk and governance, however, developing processes and having procedures to ensure they operate as expected can be onerous and difficult. We are well placed to work in partnership with schools to provide services which support this and make a positive contribution, and add value.
We have a team of professional accountants, auditors and risk specialists currently working within the Council’s Audit and Risk Service, undertaking assurance audits and making control and efficiency recommendations to improve procedures and value for money. The team currently carry out some Internal Audit work in schools to provide assurance on the controls in place to the Director for People, and the Director of Resources.
The Service has also been producing the Audit Bulletin for Schools since autumn 2010, to provide guidance, reminders and share best practice. This bulletin will continue into the future as will our commitment to provide advice and guidance to schools on a day to day basis without any charge.
As such we have a proven track record of providing a range of Internal Audit and Risk services to schools as well as a good understanding of your specific requirements and needs regarding audit planning and reporting.
